An artistic bang with Mozart in Stralsund

‘(…) A three-hour listening pleasure (including intermission), which was not only presented as ‘beautiful’ per se, but which scored enormously with genuine passion, captivating enthusiasm and full-blooded liveliness right up to the last note. (…) This was again based on excellently prepared choirs (…), but above all thanks to an orchestra that had a great day under Alexander Mayer, 1st Kapellmeister and deputy to the GMD! The overture already caught the ear with its tonal sensitivity, springy elasticity and constantly pulsating musical furore, quality characteristics that were subsequently combined with the finest detail work, a remarkably contrast-sharpened art of differentiation and – here too – audible joy in playing. The whole thing as if from a single mould and also fulfilling the highest artistic demands.’
